The Opportunity
The Quality Specialist will support and maintain quality systems, food safety management, risk management, and continuous improvement strategies at the manufacturing plant. The role is key to ensuring compliance, driving process improvement, and supporting operations.
Responsibilities
- Quality & Food Safety: Provide GMP, quality, and food safety training; assist with quality investigations and customer complaints.
- HACCP & Risk Management: Develop and maintain HACCP plans; monitor control points.
- Pest Management: Coordinate with pest control providers and maintain records.
- Pathogen Surveillance: Lead pathogen management programs, testing, and documentation.
- Calibration & Testing: Oversee calibration of testing instruments and ensure accurate results.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Support risk management plans to ensure a safe workplace.
- Relationship Management: Build relationships with stakeholders to foster a positive work culture.
Candidate Profile
Minimum 2 years of QA/QC experience in dairy or food manufacturing. Knowledge of OSH and performance improvement is desirable. Key skills include:
- Implementing and reviewing processes for efficiency and compliance.
- Maintaining stakeholder relationships.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Testing instrumentation calibration and food quality testing (e.g., sensory, raw milk analysis, environmental swabbing).
- Investigating and resolving quality issues.
- Conducting internal audits.
- Willingness to engage with Tikanga Māori.
